Agriculture and livestock farming constitute the primary economic resource in the regions of Al-Jazira and Al-Furat. These professions are deeply rooted in history and harmonize with the nature of the land and climate, serving as a foundational source for traditional and local handicrafts. In response to global climate change and the severe decline in water resources—and driven by our belief in a developmental role that transforms compassion into action—the Patriarchal Syriac Mar Ephrem Development Committee (EPDC) – Al-Jazira and Al-Furat Office works through its projects to strengthen families’ ability to remain resilient and stable through parallel interventions, including:

- An agricultural project that provides modern irrigation

networks and systems, supports farmers with seeds and fertilizers, and offers

agricultural training to targeted families along with regular food baskets.

- A livestock support project that delivers veterinary services

such as medicines and vaccines for livestock, supplies breeders with livestock

heads, domestic poultry, and their specific feed, and provides necessary

training for beneficiaries.

These projects also contribute to enhancing the role of women in

rural communities, recognizing their capabilities and potential within the

family and across various fields of work.

The targeted areas span across Raqqa Governorate in its

countryside and the countryside of Al-Tabqa, Deir ez-Zor countryside in the Abu

Khashab area, and Al-Hasakah countryside in the Twaina and Al-Arisha regions.
